It has apparently been the year of Grain Mills! Once the pandemic hit, apparently everyone wanted to start baking and grain mills have been soooo hard to find. BUT they appear to be coming back in stock AND on sale, just in time for Christmas. So here’s my little guide for getting started grinding your own grains and how to get the BEST deal.
If you are curious WHY anyone would want to grind their own grains, you can check out my podcast and video all about grinding your own grains.
I also have a comprehensive course allllll about grinding your own grains. You can snag it for 50% off through Tuesday, October 6th. Use coupon code: HOMEMAKING50 to get the entire course for just $24.99 (and you get lifetime access to go through it when YOU have the time)! Check out: Freshly Milled.
Grain Mill Sale!
Nutrimill – the company that makes my first two grain mills (yes, I’ve tried out and tested many!) is having a mega sale right now. Not only are their grain mills BACK in STOCK, but they are offering a great price.
My personal favorite grain mill that I recommend is the Nutrimill Harvest. It’s currently on sale for $219.
The reason I love and recommend this one is that the design is beautiful, it’s very small and compact, it has stone grinding heads, and makes the LEAST amount of mess than any of the other designs. That is contrary to what I originally had supposed. But the open shoot actually makes little to no dust whereas the classic can produce quite a bit of dust.
The cheaper option: Nutrimill Classic – on sale for $189
This was my very first grain mill and I fell in love with grinding grains with my classic. You can’t go wrong with either of these machines and this one has a few advantages: it’s cheaper (yay!!) and has a larger hopper. In the photo below, the classic is the one on the far left. The Harvest is next in line.
