My Goals for This Week – Our Last Week as a Family of Four

on July 2, 2015 by Jami Balmet 0 comments

It’s been a while since I’ve done my weekly goals updates and I miss it! I love sharing what my goals and projects for the week are because it helps keep me accountable to my own goals and I love being inspired by all of your goals.

But I’ve been off the computer a lot this month as I’m in the final month of this twin pregnancy – and it’s been rough! If you missed the announcements this past year – we are due with twin boys on July 19th. As the boys have grown this month, I’ve had a really hard time walking and moving around a whole lot. But I wanted to check in real quick and share what we’ve been up to and what we have in store this week.

My weekly Goals (Personal & Business)

It’s been a long month waiting for the arrival of our twins. The thing with twins is that you don’t have any sort of reliable due date. They really could come at any time so all of June has been on baby watch.

Here’s the last photo I have of myself and the bump. This is from 36 weeks and I’m nearly 38 weeks at this point. I’ll have to try and get another photo of the belly before this is all over (but that would require actually changing out of my PJ’s…so we’ll see)!

36 weeks and counting

On the 11th I was up all night with contractions and we ended up at the hospital with really close contractions that were getting stronger. I was dilating and progressing and we thought for sure that we would be meeting our sons that day. They were a little early but still in a good time frame – and then my contractions slowed down and stopped altogether.

In the hospital

After over 18 hours in labor, in the hospital, hooked up to IV’s and monitors…we got sent home to wait. My doctor said he thought I would be back the next day or for sure that weekend. Well now it’s been several weeks and we have had nothing. No consistent contractions. No labor signs. Nothing.

We have tried everything we can to naturally get things going but these boys are content to just wait. It’s been hard to be in so much pain waiting to meet our boys but we are so thankful for how long we’ve made it in this pregnancy.

So as of now, we have a C Section scheduled for Monday July 6th – which is only a few days away at this point! We are still praying that I would go into labor naturally before then, but we are resting in the knowledge that God is on control and His perfect will will be done!

We just took this photo this past weekend and it hit me that this is probably the last family photo we will have as a family of four. Our next photo will be as a family of six!

Our family of four

So while I’m still having a really hard time getting around (with 14lbs+ of baby), we’ve been doing a few more things to prepare to meet our sweet boys soon! We’ve got the nursery almost all done (although the babies won’t use it much for a while). It’s vintage train theme and I can’t wait to share the whole room:

The nursery

And obviously we’ve got all our hospital bags all packed up and ready to go as we’ve already been there a few times! I plan on sharing next week about everything we’ve packed to take to the hospital for the babies and myself. Here’s the contents of our baby bag:

My New Podcast Launched This Month

I think the most exciting thing from this last month here on the blog is that I finally launched my new podcast!! We had a tough week so we didn’t get episode #5 posted on Tuesday but look for it next Tuesday. You can still go back though and listen to the first four episodes of the Homemaking Foundations Podcast:

Usually during these weekly goal updates, I share what my goals from last week were and how I did. But since this has been such a wacky week and month for me, I’ll just jump in and share my goals for this upcoming week.

Personal Goals for This Up Coming Week

1) Start my new Bible reading plan (as of July 1st) – I hope to share more about this in an upcoming post

2) Continue listening to our audio book together – Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life (Jason listens to it during his rather long commute to work and I listen to it in pieces throughout the day when I’m cooking, cleaning, driving, etc. It takes me longer to get through a book than it takes him.) (BTW you can sign up for a FREE 30 day trial to Audible and get 2 audiobooks absolutely free – including this one we are listening to)!

3) Go through and really clean the kitchen one more time before Monday

4) Try to hang in there this weekend with record breaking heat (it was 108 today)!!

5) MEET MY BABY BOYS ON MONDAY!!! (Or sooner!)

Business Goals for This Up Coming Week

1) Go through one last time and make sure that my posts for next week are scheduled and ready to go

2) Set up the final pieces for episode #5 of my podcast to go up on Tuesday (when we will be in the hospital)

3) Share on Facebook and Instagram adorable pictures of our brand new twin boys!!
