Little ways to focus on Scripture throughout your day! (For you & the kids!)

on May 3, 2018 by Jami Balmet 0 comments

Please note: This is a sponsored post by Inscribing Truth but all opinions are 100% my own…and I really do love and use these cards 😀

I seem to keep having conversation after conversation lately with women who are “burnt-out”, “overwhelmed”, and trudging through survival mode. Maybe it’s because I’ve been there so many times that I can relate so well.

I’ve also been in several discussions with moms, wondering how to create a deeper connection with their kids while at the same time, instilling in them a love of God’s Word.

We live in a busy, fast paced world, and it takes a lot of intentionality to even slow down to ask these questions. And with everything digital these days, I feel like I am always grasping for ways to make things tangible and OFF of screens.

If you are struggling with any of these things today, I have a few quick suggestions!

1) Focus on Scripture…in little ways

No matter what you are facing today: an overwhelming schedule, kids who won’t stop fighting, an illness that is kicking your butt, etc. you can and always should turn to Scripture.

From the little things of life to the big overwhelming things – God uses His Word to provide comfort, teach us about Him, and form us more into His image. We just need to listen!

I know when I am feeling discouraged and overwhelmed, it’s so helpful for me to meditate upon Scripture. But with 5 little kids, this can be so difficult. It’s difficult to find the time and difficult to concentrate, even when I do find the time.

So I’ve found that finding even little ways that I focus on Scripture is so helpful! See the next suggestion…

2) Slip a note here and there

One thing I’ve started doing more in the last year or so, is writing out passages or verses of Scripture. There is something so helpful to this tired mama brain about writing out/seeing those small pieces of Scripture. To be able to meditate upon them in bite size pieces!

I’ve always been one to carry around little Scripture cards with me. And then I found these cute little cards called Bites of Truth by Inscribing Truth and I knew I needed to try them out!!

It’s a pack of 99 sticky notes that were originally designed to put on your kids lunches, but I think you can use them for so many more things! 😉

I love sticking them on my mirror to memorize and encourage. I love the idea of slipping one on my husbands laptop as he heads off to work. And I think they would be amazing for sticking on your kids (or husbands) lunch as you send them off!

3) Encourage those in your life (especially those living under your roof)!

When I’m in times of stress and overwhelm, it has started opening my eyes to others who are going through similar times. It helps me have more compassion (and even just awareness to my sister or friend who is struggling), it helps me notice the silent ways in which my husband carries stress, it reminds me to reach out and write an encouraging note to a friend or child.

I always thought it was a fun idea to slip a note in the lunch on the way out the door but I just never managed to make it happen. But with Bites of Truth it’s so easy!

I love that in your pack of sticky notes, you get 99 beautifully designed sticky notes all with a different verse meant to encourage you with God’s Word! Plus the creator, Lindsay, intentionally left blank spots on all the notes so you could add in your own little note as you stuck them places.

I could see using this is so many different ways:

  • Stick next to the sink as you wash dishes to help you memorize
  • Put on your bathroom mirror to see first thing in the morning
  • Put on your kids bathroom mirror as a good reminder
  • Stick in various places around your car!
  • Put inside the fridge for a blast of God’s Word when you open the door
  • Use in your planner to decorate!
  • Send an encouraging note (by snail mail!) with a note attached
  • And of course, send as notes with your husbands paperwork, on your kids lunch, etc.

I often have the intention of doing these good things, but I seldom actually get to it. So having a pack of sticky notes, all ready for me to use and personalize is such a great idea!

I can’t wait to discover more ways to use and I think this is such a fabulous idea. P.s. I think these would make a fantastic Mother’s Day present!! Mother’s Day is just around the corner so hint hint: here’s a good suggestion 😉

Check out Bites of Truth here for a wonderful present!
