Hf #022: For when you forget how BIG our calling is…

on November 24, 2015 by Jami Balmet 8 comments

I re-learned a powerful lesson this weekend and God really convicted my heart to remember the right way I need to think about motherhood, marriage, and my home.

I need to remember, day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment, that God has given me an eternally significant calling in my home. It’s so easy to forget this calling on those tough days. So here’s a quick encouragement for your week to remember this calling and to cherish it.

  1. Just listening to this episode now, and I just wanted to let you know that I am one of your ‘conversion stories’! I have recently come to Christ, after reading your blog, club31women (which was where I found your blog!) and other such ‘Christian wife’ blogs, I started my search on pinterest for marriage advice, and found all these wonderful posts that made a lot of sense to me, so I dived in deeper and deeper and on November 12th I gave my heart to God. Your online ministry helped me get to salvation! And I am so thankful for that!

Apart from that, I loved this podcast, you have given me a lot of encouragement, once again! This podcast will be saved on my ipod for when I am having ‘one of those days’.

God Bless you and I pray that your family returns to health ASAP!

    • Eliza,

THANK YOU for reaching out to me and leaving a comment. PRAISE THE LORD! What a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing this with me. I’m tearing up just reading this. I feel so thankful (and humbled) that God has used me in this ministry the way we has. Thank you for sharing and glad you are here apart of my community πŸ™‚

  2. I forget until my son says thank you for the bottle of juice I snuck in his wrestling bag or my husband oohs that his laundry basket is empty. I then remember I am here to bless them with little acts of “just being a mom/wife”. Being able to sit on my son’s bed and have wonderful conversations with him…. wonderful God given “career”.

  3. Jami, thank you so much for this encouragement!! The day-to-day of being a homemaker certainly can become mundane, and it helps to have the reminder that this IS the ministry to which God has called us for this season. Being a wife, mom and homemaker is a vocation, and a worthy one!

Hope you guys are feeling better now. And (I’m embarrassed to admit this) I finally learned how to pronounce your last name properly! πŸ™‚

    • That’s great Jaimie!! I’m so glad you found encouragement from this episode πŸ™‚

LOL I’m dying!! I read your comment on my phone and didn’t see that it was you posting it. People say that all the time that they didn’t know how to pronounce my name until they heard it on the podcast. But that’s TOO FUNNY!! πŸ˜‰
