Have you ever sponsored a child? Here’s a great way to get involved!

I was compensated by World Vision for my time in writing this post. All opinions are my own.

This Spring I have been learning more about World Vision and the impact they are having around the globe, especially for kids!

I was invited to participate in their Global 6k for Water and I have loved learning about all their work! During their 6K challenge, they invited people around the world to help raise money to bring clean water to families around the globe. How cool is that?

When I signed up for the run, I was excited about the idea of raising money for kids around the world to have access to clean water. But then I actually got the name and picture of a little girl I could sponsor…and it all became a lot more real.

Evangelyne is 13 years old and lives in India. Evangelyne lives with her parents and 5 brothers.

Not only does World Vision help through their clean water initiatives, they also offer child sponsoring! I think this can be a terrific way to get your entire family involved in helping other kids around the world.

Sponsoring a child is an personal, long-term way to get involved with World Vision’s mission. You can help a child, and the other children in that community, and have a life long impact! How cool is that??

The poverty that World Vision is trying to help is complex and is rarely solved by just one intervention. It becomes the mission to transform the community as a whole and often that starts with serving the children first.

Even if you couldn’t participate in the Global 6K for Water, you can still impact a child’s life (and thus the whole community) by sponsoring a child. It’s a great way to get the entire family involved and teach your kids about serving and loving others.

Here’s how you can get involved:

  • Find a child you want to help. Your first letter from your child will come in 6-12 weeks. I love that you can then have that personal relationship with these children!
  • Your sponsorship helps the children AND the whole community. This is something very unique that World Vision does. Your donation combines with other gifts and sponsored kids to support all the kids and the community. Everyone works together to help the whole area for greater change and impact.
  • Stay connected for the important moments. The My World Vision digital experience lets you get regular updates, track community progress, and view photos of your child. You can even send them a letter through email.

And something else I just found out – for every $1 you donate, it equals $1.30 in impact thanks to grants and product donations! How amazing!! If you ever wonder how far your donation actually stretches, you don’t have to have that fear with World Vision.

The goal of World Vision sponsorship is to help your sponsored child and his or her community to break the cycle of poverty so they can step into the future with hope. Throughout an approximately 15-year involvement in communities, World Vision manages, monitors, and evaluates progress toward the community’s goals. When these goals are met, World Vision can move on to other communities to serve other children in need of help.
