Essential Oils: Resources for Learning More

on September 19, 2013 by Jami Balmet 0 comments

This week we have been diving into what essential oils are and my favorite oils to use {and how I use them}! But now I want to give you some tools for learning more on your own.

Resources for learning more about essential oils

Like I shared in an intro to essential oils, I’m a skeptic at heart when it comes to natural medicine and home remedies. I don’t readily take someone’s word for it, so when I first started looking into essential oils I had to do the research myself.

If you are anything like me then you won’t take my word for it either about essential oils. You will want to do your own research, and I think you should! In fact, I encourage you to learn as much as you can so that you can safely use essential oils in your own home.

Resources for learning more about essential oils

Modern Wellness

Modern Wellness

Most of what I’ve learned about essential oils has come from Modern Wellness. Christy and her team have a passion for home remedies, natural cleaning, and empowering women and mothers to have the knowledge and the tools necessary to care for their households in a safe and effective way!

If you are new to essential oils then I highly recommend you browse Modern Wellness’s free resources to learn more. Then if you are serious about essential oils you can purchase some of the books below to dive in even more!

The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Essential Oils

The illustrated encyclopedia of essential oilsThis is one of my go to books for essential oils! I highly recommend this book to anyone – but especially to those who are new to essential oils. The entire first part of the book is an introduction to essential oils and contains an entire section on the historical roots of essential oils.

The book then moves on to how essential oils are made, ways they are extracted and the entire back section of the book is devoted to detailing each essential oil, how it’s extracted and ways you can use it. This book is excellent for everyone because it’s not brand specific, any essential oil user can easily use it! You can order it on Amazon or check and see if your local library has it {mind does}.

Modern Essentials

Modern Essentials BookThis is my other go to book on essential oils. I love the research that is presented in this book and is an excellent resource especially for doTerra users since it covers even the essential oils blends that are offered by doTerra.

This book provides full color step by step photos on how to use essential oils in massage as well as scientific pictures explaining how essential oils work within the body. Whenever I want to learn how to use a new oil I just flip to the page and I can learn about the oil, what it’s made of {if it’s a blend}, common primary uses, how the body is affected, application, safety information, what companion oils work well together and more! This is a must have book for me! You can order the book directly from Modern Wellness.

Essential Oils for Pregnancy, Birth, and Babies

Pregnancy oils for pregnancy, birth, and babiesI don’t own this book – yet. But it’s on my wish list. I’ve been working my way through the previous resources and this is next on my list to really understand how to use essential oils on my babies and for future pregnancies. I can’t wait to dive into it! It comes highly recommend as a wonderful resource. You can get it on Amazon for under $11.

Pinterest

Pinterest and blogs are a terrific way to learn more about essential oils but I strongly encourage you to do your own research first, so that you know how to better follow their advice better! Once you learn the proper way to use peppermint for example, you then visit pages like this that list 25 ideas for using peppermint essential oils in your home!

You can follow my Pinterest board that is all about essential oils or just follow all of my boards here. I frequently pin the latest information about essential oils plus hundreds of unique ideas for how to use them in your home.

Please note: This post contains Amazon affiliate links. I 100% endorse these books and if you want to avoid using my affiliate link, just go to amazon and type in the titles yourself 🙂
